Over a weekend at our Journalism Training Centre you will learn many of the practical skills you need to operate as a travel writer in the field.
The travel writing course covers:

1. finding and identifying stories and features
2. identifying suitable publications
3. pitching your ideas to news desks and commissioning editors
4. constructing and writing your story for a specific audience
5. how to file your story while you travel.

The course is taught by professional journalists. You will take part in seminars and writing workshops and work on practical assignments in our newsroom.

2. identifying suitable publications
3. pitching your ideas to sports desks and commissioning editors
4. constructing and writing your story or match report for a specific audience
5. how to file your copy from a sports event
6. careers advice.

The course is taught by professional journalists. You will take part in seminars and writing workshops and work on practical assignments in our newsroom. You will cover at least one live sports event and the ticket to this is included in the price.

The Journalism course for Sixth-Formers at Up To Speed is offered to people who would like to try their hand at a number of different types of journalism.
In a week at our Journalism Training Centre you will learn some of the practical skills you need to work as a reporter in print, broadcast and online.
On the journalism course you:

1. shoot and edit a video news report
2. record and edit a podcast
3. write news reports
4. review a play, a film, or a sports event
5. write features including a travel piece
6. build a website to showcase your work

The course is taught by professional journalists. You will take part in seminars and writing workshops and work on practical assignments in our newsroom.
