Austin Broderson was performing at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado, when he fell from his horse, Jack Dupp, on January 15, 2024. According to the witnesses, his hand was caught in the rigging, and despite his best efforts to free himself, he was dragged and stomped by his horse, leaving him unconscious and heavily bleeding.
Emergency services officers swiftly responded to the scene and rushed him to Denver Health after providing him first aid. Broderson was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital. He had suffered minor fractures, a spinal cord bruising, a broken nose, and a blood clot in his shoulder, which doctors fixed with a stint. A minor fracture was detected on his vertebra, which is expected to heal without undergoing surgery. Additionally, his injuries left him without sensation in his arms and his hips injured. However, he is likely to recover fully with complete bed rest.
