Who is Busta Rhymes?

Busta Rhymes is an American rapper, singer/songwriter, record producer, and actor. He was born Trevor George Smith Jr. in Brooklyn on May 20, 1972, to Geraldine Green and Trevor Smith Sr., both from Jamaica. When he was 12 years old, they moved to Uniondale, New York.

The rapper gained his nickname Busta Rhymes from Chuck D of Public Enemy, inspired by wide receiver George “Buster” Rhymes in NFL and CFL. He began his career with group Leader of the New School and gained widespread appreciation when they opened for Public Enemy on tour. He received praise and garnered further recognition for his guest appearance on A Tribe Called Quest’s track “Scenario.”

Busta Rhymes has released eleven solo albums, with the most recent being Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, released in 2020. He has several hit singles, including “Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check,” “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” “Dangerous,” “Gimme Some More,” and “Touch It,” and many more.

He has been nominated for Grammy Awards twelve times in his career. He has yet to win his Grammy, but he is one of the most nominated artists without a win.

Busta Rhymes is alive and well. The rapper became a victim of an online hoax, reporting that the famous rapper had passed away. The news distressed his loyal fans and caused a wave of shock and concern across the world. However, it was later clarified that the report was nothing but an online hoax and that the rapper was alive and well.

Earlier this year, in June 2023, an online hoax wreaked havoc on the Internet, claiming that the rapper had unfortunately passed away. On June 26, 2023, an update was released stating the initial story was false. The hoax reportedly originated from a Facebook page titled ‘R.I.P. Busta Rhymes,’ which garnered nearly a million likes. It stated that the rapper had passed away at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 24, 2023. On June 25, Busta Rhymes’s representatives officially clarified that the rapper was not dead and urged people to stop believing everything they found on the Internet.
