Cory Podolski, Dirt Track Racer and Car Designer Died Unexpectedly in A Sleep

Cory Podolski, commonly known as “CPod,” unexpectedly passed away in a terrible turn of circumstances, leaving the racing world in deep sorrow. On September 3, 2023, in Crandon, Cory, a former co-owner and vice president of Nine2zero Designs RC, died quietly in his sleep, leaving his loved ones, friends, and admirers in shock.

Cory Podolski, a native of Appleton, Wisconsin, a town perched above the Fox River and north of Lake Winnebago, was well-known for his prowess on the track and his amiable personality. He was adored in the tight-knit racing scene because of his outgoing nature; he was seen as a ray of happiness and optimism there.

Cory had a job at FASTSIGNS, a signage business specializing in custom signs and graphics products, in addition to his racing career. Beyond the racecourse, his love of design demonstrated his adaptability and originality.

Cory first made a name for himself in racing in 2001 when he competed in the Wisconsin Challenge Series and placed 65th. That year’s series champion was Mark Eswein. Cory participated in the ASA Late Model Series Challenge 2004 and earned a respectable 19th place. However, his performance dropped the following year, and he placed 78th in the same series.

Cory recently appeared on the registration list for the event at Crandon International Raceway on September 1-2. He planned to compete in the Pro Spec division, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the sport. Before that, on August 12, 2023, at the Bark River International Raceway, he finished fifth, enhancing his standing as a skilled off-road racer.

Cory Podolski’s passing has devastated the racing world, and friends and teammates have gathered to pay tribute to his contagious humor, charming smiles, and unfailing support that impacted the lives of many.

The organization that oversees off-road racing, Championship Off-Road, paid tribute to Cory on their official Facebook page.
