Who was Don Manolo Favis?
Don Manolo Favis was a Filipino radio legend. Known as the Philippines’s golden voice, he had been a radio host for over four decades. He began his career 1980 with the program Dis is Manolo on GMA Network’s flagship AM station, DZBB Super Radyo. He remained an anchor on the program for forty years. He won everyone’s hearts with his witty and insightful remarks.
In 2020, he left DZBB and joined UNTV Radyo La Verdad 1350. He hosted program ‘Ito Ang Inyong Lingkod, Don Manolo’ (This is Your Servant, Don Manolo). The Philippines’ golden voice could also be seen on Facebook Live. He chose this channel because this station rescues people.
He spoke about UNTV News and Rescue and said, “They also do public services, and they do not discriminate.” In covering the news about road accidents, the other reporters attempt to be the first to report the information, but UNTV reporters are at the scene helping the victims first. Hence, the news channel’s tagline is Help Now. Report later. “When you help others, God will bless you, too,” Don Manolo remarked.
Don Manolo Favis served the community through his voice for over 45 years. He was regarded as one of the Legends of Philippines Radio during the UN World Radio Day 2019 Celebration at the Senate Pecson Hall on February 6, 2019.
In 2016, he was honored with a star in German Moreno’s Walk of Fame Philippines. He was also acknowledged as an outstanding Rotarian by the Rotary Club Marikina.
