Dr. Spencer Jordan, Executive Director of the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) and former headmaster at Laurence Manning Academy, passed away after a battle with colorectal cancer on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the age of 55. He was also a pastor at the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church and Lane Methodist Church.
Who was Dr. Spencer Jordan?
Dr. Spencer Jordan was an Executive Director of SCISA (South Carolina Independent School Association). He served as headmaster at Laurence Manning Academy for fourteen years. He was also well known for his passion for athletics. He was a star athlete at The Carolina Academy and served as a coach at the school as well. He also served as a coach and athletic director at Thomson Sumter Academy. He was also an integral part of the American Legion Baseball program. He was also an esteemed pastor for Mt. Vernon Methodist Church and Lane Methodist Church.
Dr. Jordan was a well-respected individual who was known for his leadership and enthusiasm for the progress of the next generation and their future. He worked towards the betterment of society through the education of the younger generations. He was passionate about athletics and played a vital role in the development of student-athletes during his tenure. He was a former high school coach and coached the Manning-Santee American Legion Basketball team.
He was a loyal friend, a loving husband, and a caring father. He was known for his love for God and for spreading his name. He was a pastor at two different churches while serving as Executive Director at SCISA.

He lost his battle with colorectal cancer and passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. His legacy will live on in his timeless contributions towards the progress of his community.
He is survived by his wife, Kim, and their two sons, Jake and Mickey.
