Michael Paul Cathers, commonly known as the Geechy Guy, passed away at his residence in Las Vegas on October 27th at 59. He was found unresponsive in a welfare check by police when his ex-wife requested the police for the visit.
There has been no official statement regarding Guy’s cause of death, but his landlord said he had high blood pressure issues. There has been no other news of any foul play at his residence.

Guy spent many years in Las Vegas and performed at venues like Laugh Factory and Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand.
He possessed prolific writing abilities in comedy and had a distinctive style. Guy was blessed with an ability to keep the audience engaged in comedy for 15 minutes and even up to an hour and a half with his witty one-liners and amazing sense of humor. Guy’s name appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records for telling the most jokes in an hour, at 676. Guy spread smiles on the faces of many and was admitted and loved by fellow comedians and fans globally.

We are so heartbroken to share the untimely passing of Michael Paul Cathers, better known as Geechy Guy (King of the One-Liners.)
He was gearing towards live shows this year and next across the US and was looking forward to performing and seeing old and new fans.
Geechy recently shared with a friend that he believed this would be the best year of his career. We take comfort in knowing that his final thoughts were happy, excited, and about comedy.
We hope everyone will keep Geechy and his comedy legacy alive. We know he would love nothing more than his jokes to outlive him for the rest of our lifetimes and beyond that.
Geechy, we will miss you so much.
Thank you for not only the decades of laughter but your kind heart and brilliant mind.

Guy finished in the top 50 of season six of America’s Got Talent in 2011. He earned national recognition for his television exposure. Guy was a powerhouse of talent and had a style of his own. He kept himself busy even when he did not perform in Las Vegas. His fans and lovers dearly miss his trips and performances on Carnival Cruise Lines. Due to ill health, Guy cancelled some shows late.
