She was a dedicated student who ‘hoped to use science to improve humanity.’ Her dedication led her to join Columbia Space Initiative, a student group focused on aerospace science, engineering, and outreach. Giovanna’s advisor shared that she hoped to make connections and collaborate with scientists worldwide to improve the world. He said, “Giovanna’s passion for science and humanity manifested in her curiosity, kindness, and empathy.”
