Irvin Sihlophe, better known by his stage name DJ Amen, was a well-known personality on South African radio. He is most remembered for his work as a host on Ukhozi FM; he passed away unexpectedly last night.
He died at the age of 45 on Thursday night, November 9, 2023, after being hospitalized for a few days prior; according to reports, doctors were dealing with Sihlophe’s high blood pressure and diabetes.
Sihlophe’s actual cause of death is not known to the general public. However, Kaizer Chiefs News And Updates wrote in its statement that.
“On Friday, November 3, he had a stroke and was brought to the hospital. Although his phone was inaccessible when the Daily Sun attempted to call him, a close friend said that he was in severe condition upon admittance and did not survive.”
Tributes from fans, colleagues, and sports celebrities have been flooding on social media after his demise shocked the sports community. It won’t be easy to fill the vacuum that his passing on left in the world of sports presentation.
Khwezi Thambisa Jnr Gabela confirmed his death news through a Facebook post, which stated;
“We are living in a borrowed moment. This has been a difficult week for South African radio broadcasting. Irvin Sihlophe, DJ Amen, was a UKhozi FM deejay and sports presenter. He died in the hospital last night at 22h00 after being ill for some time. His health deteriorated, and he died. His death was confirmed this morning by his family.
He also wrote, May God be with the Sihlophe Family during these trying times. I’ve given up. This individual was down-to-earth and modest. I’m grateful to have known him for over a decade. Mfowethu, Lala UPhumule Nyamakayishi. Okuhle Ukulwile Okuhle. You fought till the bitter end. Mfowethu, Lala. Ekuseni Izobonana.”
