Jaymee Joaquin, also known as Jaymee Topacio and Jaymee Wins, a former actress and TV host, died after losing a years-long battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She was 44 years old. Her death was confirmed with a post on social media by her co-worker and friend, Fides VA.
Who was Jaymee Joaquin?
Jaymee Joaquin was a former actress and TV host. She gained popularity with her 2006 Game Show anchoring stint on the daily midnight show ‘Games Uplate Live’. She worked in several movies and did supporting roles in many TV series.
In 2010, she left her showbiz career to pursue her studies in Sydney, Australia, for two years. She lived in Madrid, Spain, for four years to work as an English (as a foreign language) Teacher from 2011 to 2015. She moved to San Diego, California, in the mid of 2015.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. She received treatment in 2017 and documented her journey on social media with the name ‘Jaymee Wins.’ She explained the name choice, saying she believed in claiming victory for her heart and soul. She believed that one can always choose to win in the face of struggles and difficulties. ‘Jaymee Wins’ symbolized her faith in the Lord and her determination to overcome challenges. With her determination and treatment, she was cancer–free in 2018.
After experiencing her journey through cancer, she authored two books to raise awareness and inspire the general public. She wrote a children’s book called ‘No Hair, Mama Don’t Care’ to help mothers diagnosed with cancer explain their journey to their children.

She was in remission, but not for long. Her cancer came back. Despite the treatment and determination, she lost her battle with the deadly disease. Her story serves as an inspiration to many who are battling the disease. Her legacy will live on through her work in the entertainment industry and her inspiring story of determination, faith and belief that a ‘win’ can be achieved even in the most challenging times.

Her family will release an obituary and provide details of her funeral at a later date. They are currently dealing with the heartbreaking reality that they will never be able to experience the warmth of her kind personality. All those who had the privilege to know her will miss her.
