Jeff Norman, a former Band Director at Greer High School and Clemson University’s Tiger marching Band member, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 17, 2023. He was 63 years old at the time of his death. His death has cast a somber cloud over the entire South Carolina community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.

Who was Jeff Norman?

Jeff Norman joined the Clemson Tiger Band staff in 2003 while he was still serving as band director at Wren Middle School. He contributed to the program with his limitless musical talent and hard work for over 15 years alongside the highly celebrated band program at Greer High School. He had only retired from his position at Greer and devoted his time and attention solely to the Tiger band.

Jeff Norman was a Northeast Louisiana University graduate with a music education degree. He earned his Master’s degree in the same field from Radford University. He began his career in band direction at Central High School in Carrollton, Georgia. He gave over 15 years of dedication to his position at Greer High School.

Earlier this year, in October, the Greer School district bestowed him the honor of induction into its Fine Arts Hall of Fame. They acknowledged his unparalleled service, which earned the establishment “12 superior ratings, 2 State Marching Championships, and 9 State Concert Championships.”
