John Dee, a well-known meteorologist in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, died on November 14, 2023, at the age of 57. His death’s cause is unknown yet.

Western UP Trail Reports confirmed his death news through a Facebook post, which stated:

What a huge loss for all who loved & followed John. We have been fans of his for many years. The original John Dee Snow Central was waited for every season! John was the first to report snow conditions to the snowmobiling masses online.

John was Accurate, honest & kind. We all followed suit. Thank you for all the years you gave us. Our sympathies to Nora, his daughter, his family & friends. All of us at Western UP Trail Reports.”

John’s demise left a void in the hearts of his loved ones. Thoughts and Condolences go out to his family, friends and entire community in this tragic time. His funeral details have not been released yet.

About John Dee

Dee was a well-known snowmobiler in the Upper Peninsula. The area was ideal for pursuing this desire because of how much snow there was. After spending almost 20 years in the U.P., Dee rose to legendary status within the snowmobile community.

Before attending college, he spent his childhood in the Chicago suburbs. Dee began his education at the University of Wyoming before transferring to Purdue University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in meteorology.

Dee operated a private weather forecasting company covering the Chicago region from 1991 until 1999. Over time, the metro area began to recognize and rely on him as a reliable source of weather reports.

His loved ones cherished John; his legacy will always endure, and he will be dearly missed. Prayers for him; Rest in Peace, John Dee.
