California: Two Promising Young Google Software Engineers Died in Murder-Suicide.

Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu, a young couple, were found dead in a Los Altos apartment in California on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. They were both dedicated employees of Google. Their deaths were ruled as murder-suicide.

What happened to Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu?

Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu, two young Google software engineers who were married to each other, were found dead in their Los Altos, California, apartment on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The officers responded to a welfare check at the 200 block of West Edith Avenue at approximately 1:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu inside their home. Their deaths were ruled as murder-suicide by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

A preliminary examination revealed that Liren Chen, 34, shot and killed his wife, Xuanyi Yu, 32, and then proceeded to take his own life. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. The motive behind the heinous crime is still unknown.

An investigation is underway to learn more about the circumstances which led to the extreme measures which claimed two promising lives. Who were Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu?

Xuanyi Yu graduated from Tsinghua University and the University of California, San Diego. She was a valued employee of Google based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she worked as a Software Engineer. She also worked as a software development engineer at Amazon in San Diego, CA.

Liren Chen was also a graduate of Tsinghua University and the University of California, San Diego. He worked as a software engineer at Google’s Mountain View Office. Before that, he worked at TuSimple in the Greater San Diego Area.
