A former Carroll High School student, Abby Olberding, died in an accident in Nebraska.
A former Carroll High School student, Abby Rebecca Olberding, died in a crash on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
She was a native of Carroll, Iowa. She moved with her family to Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked as a physical therapist assistant at Mokavicka Physical Therapy until a tragic accident claimed her life. She was 24 years old.
Who was Abby Olberding?
Abby Olberding was born on September 28, 1998, to Brenda and Jered Olberding in Carroll, Iowa. She graduated from Carroll High School. She studied Exercise science with a concentration on Human Performance at Buena Vista University in 2021 in Iowa. She moved to Nebraska and furthered her education as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Clarkson College in 2022 in Omaha, Nebraska.
She worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Makovicka Physical Therapy. She was a dedicated student and a hardworking individual. She placed great value on work ethics and devotion to the well-being of others. She chose a profession where she could serve the community with her healing talent.
She was a strong, independent young woman. Her dedication to personal growth was evident, as she loved to read. She also loved running, traveling, working out and shopping. She was thriving in her life, surrounded by love and embraced by peace. Her calm, gentle energy would fill her room with warmth and joy. She had announced her relationship with her boyfriend Troy Finnegan only three months ago via a post on her social media.
What happened to Abby Olberding?
She was involved in an automobile accident and fatally injured. She died on September 13, 2023, due to the accident. The details of the crash are not yet known to the public.

Her obituary was posted on Carroll’s Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home website. Her family will provide the details of her funeral at a later date. They are currently taking time to heal from their grievous loss.
