Ari ‘fLoE’ Weintraub, a renowned name in the Fighting Game Community (FGC), died at 39 after a series of strokes. He was pronounced dead on Monday, October 16, 2023. The Fighting Game Community mourns the loss of its cherished member. Our thoughts and prayers are with family, friends, and the fans of gaming legend.

Who was Ari ‘fLoE Weintraub?

Ari ‘fLoE’ Weintraub was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, on October 11, 1984, to Illana and the late Philip Weintraub. He gained global recognition with his online gaming skills and became a well-known member of FGC (Fighting Game Community). He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.

He made his online persona ‘fLoE’. He became a worldwide recognized and respected competitor in various fighting games like Street Fighter, Soul Caliber, Marvel vs. Capcom, Mortal Combat, Vampire Caliber, and many more. He was an internationally ranked player and maintained his online persona on platforms like YouTube with 18K followers and Twitch with 30K subscribers.

He retired in 2019. But remained associated with the gaming world with his color commentary at the tournaments and participated in several channels and shows like Capcom Pro Talk and Cross Counter.

He professionally worked as a game tester for titles like Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition with Iron Galaxy, The Fast and The Furious, and Cruis’n and Target: Terror. He loved to travel the world, pizza, and his pet dog Koko. He was known for his amazing sense of humor.

Obituary and funeral

A private graveside service for Ari will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at King David Cemetery in Las Vegas. The Weintraub family has requested to respect their privacy as it will be a private ceremony.

They have also requested that instead of flowers, donations may be made to Chabad of Northbrook, Illinois 60062 or Chabad of Henderson, 524 Carnegie Street Henderson, NV 89052.
