56-year-old man charged with murder after woman found dead in Niagara.

Cheryl Kowalik, a Niagara Emergency Medical Services officer, was found dead in the Town of Lincoln, Niagara, Ontario, Canada, at about 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
What happened to Cheryl Kowalik?
According to Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), the NRPS responded to a rural residential address on Victoria Avenue between Greenlane and John Street in the Town of Lincoln on October 11, 2023, around 8:00 a.m.
Criminal Investigation Unit detectives responded to the scene and led the investigation. Homicide Unit detectives and the Forensic Services Unit assisted them. Furthermore, they received assistance in the coordinated search from the Emergency Task, Canine, and Marine Unit.
Around 12:20 p.m., they located the dead body of a woman. A 56-year-old man, a resident of the town of Lincoln, was arrested and charged with First-degree murder. The NRPS decided to withhold information about the criminal to protect the victim’s identity and her surviving family, as the incident involved intimate partner violence.
Niagara Emergency Medical Services were also at the scene but refused to comment on the incident. The entire day of Wednesday, nearly half a dozen police cruisers were stationed at the area surrounding Peach Country Farm Market at 4490 Victoria Ave. Several police officers were spotted in the orchard behind the business. The police had sealed off the areas in the orchard and on the surrounding properties with yellow tape.
An investigation is underway by the NRPS Homicide Unit. According to the press release, residents are informed to expect continued police in the area. They also assured the locals that there was no threat to public safety.
Who was Cheryl Kowalik?
She was a Niagara Emergency Medical Services Officer with badge no. 72503. She was a devoted mother and a fierce friend. She was dedicated to serving her community. The paramedic community mourns Cheryl Kowalik.
