Darius Bogertey, a 32-year-old former student-athlete at North Carolina A&T State University, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 18, 2023, in Houston, Texas. He was an honourably discharged U.S. Army veteran working as a field quality assurance at Amazon Logistics.

Darius Bogertey, a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 18, 2023, in Houston, Texas. He was 32 years old at the time of his tragic demise. The North Carolina A & T State University’s A & T Athletics announced the sad news on their Instagram in a post that read,

“The A & T Athletics family and Aggies Track and Field mourns the loss of former student-athlete Darius Bogertey. We extend our deepest condolences to those who knew and loved Darius.”

Who was Darius Bogertey?

Darius Bogertey, also known as Darius Bugatti, was a multi-faced personality born on July 1, 1991, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was a North Carolina A&T State University alumnus. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Liberal arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from the university and was also a talented athlete of A & T Athletics Track and Field. He is described as ‘one of the most dedicated runners’.

Darius was an honourably discharged U.S. Army veteran. He served with the U.S. Army as a Co. 304th ESB 1 Signal B.N. An Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB) allows the U.S. Army to rapidly deploy and manoeuvre across the battlefield. The 304th ESB is a tactical signal unit that provides communications support to the U.N. Command, Combined Forces Command, U.S. Forces Korea, and Eighth Army. It is the only ESB on the Korean Peninsula located at USAG Humphreys, 45 miles south of Seoul.
He is a licensed U.S. Army Ammo Handler, Driver’s Training, First Responder, Hazardous Material Awareness, Hazardous Material Operations, Hazmat Op-Mass Decontamination, and Hazmat Ops-Personal Protective Equipment.

His most recent job was as a Field Quality Assurance at Amazon Logistics for the past five years in Houston, Texas.
