LATTEVILLE, WI – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville announced the unexpected passing of Dr. Kristina Navarro-Krupka, who served as the assistant chancellor and director of athletics. The sad news was revealed on Monday morning.

The university initially kept the news of Dr. Navarro-Krupka‘s passing private for a short period. She had been in the role of assistant chancellor at UW-Platteville and had also served as the athletic director for four years.
Dr. Tammy K. Evetovich, the chancellor of the university, conveyed in a statement that Dr. Navarro-Krupka was pregnant at the time of her passing. The UW-Platteville community was deeply shocked and saddened by the loss. Dr. Evetovich expressed condolences to her spouse Nick, loved ones, friends, and everyone she had touched during her time at UW-Platteville. In an online message on Monday morning, Dr. Evetovich stated, “She will be greatly missed.”
Apart from her roles as assistant chancellor and director of athletics, Dr. Navarro-Krupka also oversaw the graduate program in sports administration and taught five courses at UW-Platteville. She had been with the institution for four years.
Before joining UW-Platteville, Dr. Navarro-Krupka held the position of senior assistant athletic director for strategic partnerships and leadership development at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She has also worked in the athletic departments of UW-Whitewater, UW-Madison, UNC-Chapel Hill, and the University of Oklahoma.
Originally from Madison, Dr. Navarro-Krupka earned her degree from UW-La Crosse in 2006. She completed her master’s degree in sport administration at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2009 and received her doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis from UW-Madison in 2012.
