Gavin Monroe Miller, a 14-year-old Edwardsville High School student, passed away in Illinois on Friday, October 6, 2023. His untimely death has cast a sombre cloud over Edwardsville’s community, which mourns its beloved member. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.

Who was Gavin Monroe Miller?

Gavin Monroe Miller was born on June 21, 2009, to Dean Miller and Jamie (Horan) Miller in Maryville, Illinois. He was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and a dear friend. He was a member of First Baptist Church Maryville.

He was a freshman at Edwardsville High School. He was a dedicated student and loved to be part of orchestra and theatre. He participated in the Science Olympiad and dreamt of becoming a palaeontologist.

He was lovable and made friends quickly with his charismatic personality and warm smile. He was always eager to help those who needed it. He lived every moment of his life to the fullest and loved to laugh, but above all, he loved his family dearly. All those who had the privilege to know him will deeply feel his absence.

He is survived by his parents, his grandparents David and Christy Horan of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and James and Pam Miller of Irondale, Missouri, his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

What happened to Gavin Monroe Miller?

Irwin Chapel published his obituary. The visitations will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL. The visitations will also continue on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Maryville, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the same place.

Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, Illinois, will be his final resting place. May he rest in peace.
