A deadly crash in Lafayette County leaves two dead and one injured.
Jason Richardson, a man from Monroe, and his three-year-old daughter died in a deadly crash near Gratiot, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, on Tuesday afternoon.
What happened to Jason Richardson?
Jason Richardson was traveling with his wife, Leane E. Richardson, and their daughter when the accident happened. His wife, Leane, received minor injuries and survived the crash. Jason and their three-year-old daughter Teigan passed due to their injuries from the accident.
Emergency services were called to the 8000 block of Highway 11 in the town of Gratiot just before 2 p.m. on the reports of a collision between a pickup truck and a semitrailer.
According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, Jason drove a 2016 Ford F-150 on State Highway 11. He crossed the median about 2.5 miles east of Gratiot while traveling east when he entered the path of a westbound Swift Transportation Company Semi driven by 30-year-old Kaled Hussein Omar from Clarksville, Indiana.
According to Sheriff Reg Gill, Jason’s truck collided with Omar’s Semi, and both vehicles hit the same guardrail on the north side of the highway before coming to a stop. Jason Richardson and his daughter Teigan died at the scene, while his wife, Leane, was transferred to the Hospital.
An investigation is underway to learn more about the circumstances that led to the accident. The Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction Team is aiding with the investigation. The emergency services that responded to the scene and assisted the deputies included Gratiot Fire and First Response, South Wayne Fire and First Response, Green County EMS, Paramount Ambulance Service, Warren Illinois EMS, Lafayette County Highway Department, and the State Patrol.
According to their friend Lindsay Proctor, the couple was expecting another baby. Jason’s mother, Angela Miesen, told a local news channel that the Richardson family had suffered another tragedy earlier this year when their three-month-old son, Landon, died from natural causes in March.
Jason Richardson is survived by his mother, Angela Miesen, wife Leane, and their two other daughters.
A GoFundMe page has been organized.
