11-Year-Old Jersey Poff Passed Away in Ohio: Community Mourns

11-year-old Jersey Poff passed away in Ohio, leaving the family aggrieved and the community saddened.

Jersey Poff, an 11-year-old daughter of Alison and Jody Poff, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, in Ohio. She was a 5th-grader at St. Marys Intermediate School. The cause of death is unknown. Speculations of an accident and illness are being made regarding her untimely death.

Jersey was a volleyball manager for the St. Marys volleyball team. Jersey was full of life, a bright child. She lived every day of her life to the fullest. He was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She was a shining light of warmth and joy in every room she was in. She always had a smile; whenever she was not smiling, she was laughing, singing, and dancing, filling the atmosphere with her giggly delight and fuzzy warmth.

She had unwavering faith in her life. She lived her life through faith. Everyone who knew her in the community, whether a fellow student or a staff member, was touched by her enthusiastic personality and gentle, loving nature. All of them were shocked and saddened by her untimely demise. The community prayed for her at the St.Mary Church on Wayne Street.

St Marys schools released a heartfelt statement for Jersey Poff, saying.


“It’s hard to find the words, and it’s with a weighty heart that we share the passing of our sweet, 5th-grade student, Jersey Poff.

Jersey had a contagious passion for life; whether smiling, laughing, singing, dancing, wrestling, or sharing her unwavering faith, she touched all our staff and students. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Poff family, friends, staff, students, and everyone touched by Jersey’s incredible life.

It will undoubtedly be a very tough week for the Roughrider community and schools, and we want everyone to know that we will have extra support staff available at school on Tuesday to help our students and staff. Please keep everyone in your prayers and hug your loved ones!”

The grief-stricken parents are still recovering from the shock and have not yet declared the funeral service. They have yet to make the arrangements and release an obituary.

Her devastated mother, Jody Poff, wrote on social media:

“If you have kids, Please stop what you are doing and hug them. Love them, then love some more. It will NEVER BE ENOUGH.”
