Kris Chellani, Owner of Classic Carolina, Died in Fatal Car Accident

Kris Chellani, owner of the Classic Carolina store on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, passed away on September 6, 2023, in a terrible accident.

Kris, his mother, Nina, and his father, Dhruva, were returning home after attending a neighborhood event. Kris and his father sadly perished when a fast-moving motorist drove into their lane and struck them head-on.

Kris and Dhruva both died at the scene after this horrible. At the same time, his mother, Nina, is now in a stable condition after being taken to a local hospital for surgery at a nearby hospital.

Tanya Bhandary released Kris’ and his father’s death news on Facebook with a statement:

“With great grief and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kris Chellani and Dhruva Chellani. For all of us, this is a time of unspeakable sorrow. The word “grief” is far too modest. According to a proverb, With great love comes great sorrow.

Before recently, I had yet to learn what that meant. We are all in shock and inconsolable over this devastating loss. Please keep me in your prayers as I and the Chellani family face these challenging times.”

Following the news of Kris Chellani and his father’s passing, many individuals expressed their profound sympathies to his family on social media; the heartbreaking news left the community in mourning and grief.

Kris Chellani belonged to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He attended The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and works at Deloitte.

According to Tanya’s statement, Kris had set out to take over the 1993-generational family business, Classic Carolina, from his father. The store’s big reopening, which Kris had scheduled for Saturday, September 9, was canceled.

The store was completely renovated and given a thorough makeover by Kris and his father, who put in much effort. It’s terrible to postpone the grand reopening and keep the store closed because they had many exciting plans for Classic’s success.

Tanya Bhandary also created a GoFundMe page for Chellani’s family on behalf of Kris’ siblings to raise funds for Kris’s and his father’s funeral expenses. She requested Please let your family and friends know about this GoFundMe page.

As a result of Kris and his father’s abrupt and unexpected deaths, their family is emotionally devastated and has to deal with a massive funeral debt, unpaid debts, and an uncertain future.

We can band together as a community and offer much-needed assistance during this tremendously trying time. We humbly ask for your assistance as we reach out to our friends and neighbors. No matter how small, every donation will help the Chellani family cope financially and provide the assistance they require as they travel through this unfathomable road of grief and recovery.”

The campaign had started to collect $50,000 and raised $41,189 from 455 donations, but they still need more funds to achieve the goals for their last rites services.
