About Krista Maureen Martin

Krista was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Three years later, she moved to Westerly, where she spent most of her childhood. Not only did she finish sixth in her class upon graduating from WHS in 1997, but more importantly, she earned four varsity letters in softball, basketball, and soccer.

What matters most to her is that during her fifth year as a member of the WHS Marching Band, when she was an eighth-grader, she marched in the Clinton Inaugural parade in Washington, DC. Krista came to URI to study electrical engineering and, naturally, to be a part of the pep, concert, and marching bands for Rhody. Her band buddies became lifelong companions.

She went to Munich, Germany, for her fifth year of college, where she enrolled in the International Engineering program. “If you’re going to study engineering, you do it in Germany,” asserts Krista. Krista started working for the Department of Defense at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport after receiving her degree from URI.

She became really interested in traveling to experience different cultures and make new acquaintances somewhere along the line. She frequently listened to music from bands worldwide, including Incubus, Sevendust, 311, Chili Peppers, and Our Lady Peace.

She found her happy place around 2005. After Supernatural debuted on television, conventions were held worldwide. Krista has visited 87 of them by 2023. Along with other fans residing in Britain, Italy, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, and the US, she became close friends with the actors and crew.

After the cast and crew of Supernatural learned Krista had a fatal disease and was determined to attend one more convention, the entire Supernatural weekend in Washington, DC, was named KristaCon.

After leaving her parents, Krista leaves behind her brother Shawn Michael, his closest friend Sara, and their five kids, Connor, Caleb, Owen, Natalie, and Andrew. Aaron Douglas, her longtime flatmate of fifteen years and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, will also miss her.
