Lincoln Walsh, a 7-year-old beloved member of the Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, community died in an accident involving a ZipLine malfunction, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, shattering the hearts of community members and leaving the family in an unimaginable pain.

Who was Lincoln Walsh?

Lincoln Walsh was born on July 21, 2016, to his devoted and loving [parents, Megan and Adam Walsh. He had a puppy named Bolt. He made friends everywhere he went: at his school Holy Cross Elementary School, his hockey friends in CBR Renegades & Xtreme Hockey Association, at his beloved Young Guns & CBC Rockets, at CBC Minor softball, camping buddies at Island Park Pond, his cousins whom he loved very much and many more.

He never met a stranger. He treated everyone with love and kindness. He never judged anyone and tried to the best of his abilities to help others. According to his obituary, he never wanted to be better than anyone else, instead, he wanted to be everyone’s equal. He was an adventurer and loved playing ice hockey. He was a gifted skater. He was also a ‘natural academic’ who had the potential to do great in academia without much effort. He was the ‘star’ of his community, especially his parents, who were shattered by the grief of losing their beloved son.

What happened to Lincoln Walsh?

The details of his death have not been made public. Unconfirmed reports say he died in a Zip Line accident in his friend’s Holyrood Garden. The reports say he was using a zip line when it snapped, and Lincoln fell on the ground, sustaining many injuries, including a severe brain injury. He was transported to the Janeway Kids Hospital in St. John’s. Despite the best efforts of the hospital’s staff, Lincoln succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

The community mourns Lincoln Walsh

The entire Chapel’s Cove, NL, community mourns the loss of such a young life. Everyone loved his. His big personality impressed everyone he met. He had so much love in his heart and touched many lives with his light and positivity.
The community came together to mourn such a precious soul. They have outpoured support for his family in this difficult time and donated generously to the GoFundMe fundraiser to help the family focus on their healing without the worries of the financial burden of funeral and burial. The goal was set at 15,000 dollars; over 90,000 dollars have been raised to help the family overcome their inconsolable loss.

Obituary and funeral

His obituary was published with Dunphy’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services. His cremation has taken place. The visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.
