“I debated making this post since I tend to be highly private, especially when grieving, but this loss affected me quite differently. A brother and faithful friend. Someone who had a deep affinity for Savannah State University. Our SSU family will be sorely missed, and our SSU family will not be the same!

Together, we entered Savannah State, and we frequently cracked jokes and laughed. Classmates who participated in campus life and were in many of our classes. This one stung, brother, and I know it hurts all of us Tigers! Rest up, dear friend, till our next meeting.”

Thoughts and Condolences to his family, friends, and community in this trying time; his funeral services have not been announced on social media.

GoFundMe Fundraiser

A GoFundMe page has been organized by Malik’s sister, Bria Anderson. She created the page to raise funds for Malik’s funeral services and last rites; she wrote in her statement:

“We are Bria Anderson and Joshua Barnes. We are the brother and sister of Malik Khalil Collington. Malik was a kind individual who was adored by many and hardly ever encountered a stranger. He was a friend to everybody who came into contact with him. Unfortunately, Malik received his celestial wings on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

The Bible says in Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” We need your assistance in organizing our dear brother’s funeral as we are grieving his passing. Every dollar matters, and everything helps. We appreciate the prayers and thoughts of our SSU family. Please share this with your friends, family, and loved ones.”

The campaign had started to collect a $15,000 goal, and $5,874 had been raised through 127 donations. Anyone who wants to donate funds to the family can easily contribute to help the family in this difficult time.
