Owen Poirier, a great student-athlete and junior at Chazy Central Rural School, died unexpectedly on October 18, 2023, leaving the Chazy, New York community in sadness. His death cause is unknown, yet no official statement has been released regarding his death cause.
Owen was a Chazy Eagles soccer and baseball team member, wearing the numbers 24 and 25, respectively. As word of his untimely death spread, the town and school came together to memorialize the young athlete whose promise and energy were taken from them far too soon.
Connor Duda confirmed his death news and honored him with a statement:
“Owen was a really wonderful classmate who was also kind-hearted. Many family members and friends will sincerely miss Owen. All I wanted to do was publish my post. We could all come together with our cars and honor Owen’s passion of cars as a way for family and friends to spread the news. We can set up a donation location so that friends can help one other out during this difficult period. Owen, my classmate, you will always remain in my heart.”

Owen was a vital member of the Chazy Eagles’ defense, which helped the squad win and comforted them. In addition to being an exceptional student, Owen Poirier, a junior in the class of 2025, was an avid athlete who had a big influence on the sports departments of the Chazy Eagles.
When he played right-handed pitching in Chazy Varsity Baseball and outfielder in Chazy Varsity Soccer, he wore the number 25 jersey. In addition to his exceptional athleticism, Owen stood out on the field for his leadership abilities.
Owen demonstrated his versatility on the baseball field by suiting up as a right-handed pitcher and an outfielder, and he became a role model for young athletes hoping to emulate him. His steadfast dedication and love of athletics made him a great role model for many.
Owen’s funeral services have been released by Tammy Poirier, with a statement: “Owen’s services are on Tuesday, 24th. The wake will be at Ross Furnal home in Mooers from 10 until 1 with a procession to the church in Chazy and a reception for all at the church hall right next door. All are welcome!”
Owen’s last rites will be performed on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. The funeral wake will held at Ross Funeral Home in Mooers from 10 am to 1 followed by a procession to the church in Chazy and an open house in the church hall next door.
The family had invited everyone who wanted to come and honor Owen in his last moments. Prayers for the Young boy; his legacy will always endure, and he will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace, Owen Poirier.
