Springfield community mourns its cherished member, Ryan McKnight.

Ryan McKnight, a longtime resident of Springfield, Pennsylvania, and Sales Representative at Cintas, tragically died in a drowning incident at Lake Harmony on Wednesday, October 29, 2023. He was an alumnus of Penn State University and a beloved husband and father.

The officials have not released a statement regarding the incident. His brother, Kevin McKnight, announced the sad news of his departure from the world in a post on social media that said,
“Beloved father, husband, son…my big brother.
Words cannot begin to describe how much he meant to me and everyone else that he encountered throughout his life.”
He thanked the community for their support and prayers and appealed to everyone to donate to the fundraiser set up with a GoFundMe page to help the family.
Who was Ryan McKnight?
Ryan was a longtime resident of Springfield, Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Contracting Design/Build from Penn State University from 2012- 2016, during which time he was also working as a Contractor’s Assistant, a job he held for over eight years. He worked as a Landscape Designer and Outside Sales Representative for over six years from 2017 to 2023. Earlier this year, he joined Cintas and worked as a Sales Representative for the past five months.
Ryan loved his family. He was a beloved son, brother, dedicated father, and loving husband. According to his GoFundMe page, he is described as fun, curious, hard-working, funny, and above all kind. He would light up every room he was in with his positivity and humor. He was devoted to his beloved wife, Colleen “Bean” Lake McKnight, whom he met at Penn State. They welcomed their first son, Seamus, in June 2022. His family was his whole world. ‘Bean-and-McKnight’s relationship is described as a ‘gift’ to their wide circle of friends and tight-knit family. The couple was ready to welcome their second son, who is expected in November 2023.
A GoFundMe page has been established
A GoFundMe page has been established to help ease the financial burden of the family. The goal is set at 250,000 dollars. Over 190,000 dollars have been raised, more donations are being made. The funds will help the family with funeral and burial expenses, and the rest will go to his wife to help her with her children, especially their second son, who is expected in November.

Ryan’s family will release an obituary and provide details of a memorial service in the coming days. They are currently healing from their immense loss. May they find strength to get through this crucial time.
