Skyla McGlown, a 19-Year-Old of Purvis, Died in A Fatal Crash

Unfortunately, Skyla McGlown, a 19-year-old from the town of Purvis, deceased in a single-car crash on August 30 at around 6 a.m., according to Pearl River Valley Coroner Derek Turnage. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 11, which connects Lumberton and Poplarville.

The coroner determined that McGlown’s car overturned when she was negotiating a highway curve. River Valley coroner confirmed that she tragically did not survive the collision and died at the scene. The crash’s circumstances are currently the subject of an investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Skyla McGlown graduated from Purvis High School in 2023. She was eager to start studying at Pearl River Community College (PRCC), where she had recently enrolled. On September 2, McGlown would have celebrated her next birthday.

Thoughts and condolences to her family, friends, and community. Her parents, Alvis McGlown, Sr. and Tiffney McGlown, her maternal grandparents survive her. Everyone Skyla came into contact with was positively affected by her smiles and helpful demeanor.

Moore Funeral Services released McGlown’s funeral details on their website:

McGlown’s funeral service will be held On Saturday, September 2, 2023, which is also her birthdate. A gathering will be held to celebrate and remember the life of Skyla McGlown, and visitation will start at 2:00 p.m. and last until 3:30 p.m.

This event will take place at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. At 3 p.m., a special memorial ceremony will start after the gathering—prayers for her. Rest in Peace, McGlown.

She adored people and had the kindest soul. She was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need without considering herself. Anyone who ever touched paths with her will miss her.
