East St. Louis rapper community mourns the loss of its cherished member, Mudd Bughatti.

Who was Mudd Bughatti?

Troy Edwards, aka Mudd Bughatti, was a hip-hop artist and rapper from Metro East. He was the oldest son of a single mother. He assumed the role of caretaker for his family, including his mother and a younger brother. Growing up in a dangerous neighborhood, he faced challenges from an early age. He used his struggles as inspiration and became a full-time musician. He transformed his troubles into authentic lyrics that resonated with his audience.

He was a responsible son, a loving partner, and a devoted father. He loved his daughters. His family was his whole world. He worked tirelessly to provide them with a better life. He strived to make the lives of his loved ones comfortable. He was kind to everyone and always wore a smile on his face. Sadly, he fell victim to targeted violence and left this earth well before his time.

What happened to Mudd Bughatti?

He was shot and killed in a targeted violence. According to the Illinois State Police, he was driving across the Stan Musial Veteran Memorial Bridge from St. Louis, Illinois, when someone opened fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene just after 11 p.m. He was only 25 years old.

Prior to this incident, he was reportedly shot 11 times nearly two years ago along with another person. He miraculously survived and made a full recovery, but the other unidentified person passed away.

This time, his luck ran out. He was killed in what police called a targeted shooting. He was traveling east on the bridge in his white SUV when someone in another vehicle opened fire. A passenger in his vehicle was wounded and was transported to the hospital. The passenger received non-life-threatening injuries. Edward succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The Illinois State Police said no one is in custody yet.
