In a devastating blow to the Tsonga community and the entertainment industry, a popular performing and voice-over artist and freelance weather anchor, Tirhani Mabasa, passed away at age 51. The cause of her death remains unanswered, and various speculations are being made.
Her death news circulated across various social media platforms, and her admirers have shared tributes and heartfelt messages to the departed soul on Facebook and Twitter. A Facebook named A Mystery Friend announced her death by stating, “The Tsonga Tribe suffer another death blow as Tirhani Mabasa passed away today. Former SABC NEWS Weathercaster and Xitsonga renowned artiste Tirhani Mabasa (51) has been reported dead later yesterday.”
Who was Tirhani Mabasa?
Tirhani was a well-known SABC 2 weather presenter, and it is believed that she passed away due to illness, but it is not confirmed yet. In 2016, Ben10 was an album released by her which got great admiration.
Mabasa’s talents and accomplishments extended beyond her singing career as she also worked as a communication manager at Humba Communications to manage emerging musicians. She played a huge role in nurturing aspiring artists, and her impact has been massive. Mabasa won the best Xitsonga Album of the Year award at the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) held in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
Her life has been filled with struggles as she lost her father when she was barely one-year-old. She lost her mother in 2023 and had three sisters and one brother. She was a single mother who raised the child alone while pursuing her career in the entertainment industry. Tirhani lived a life of great strength and resilience, inspiring many.
