Toon Greebe, a well-known Former PDC dart player, passed away at the young age of 35, Greebe was a Den Bosch native. The Dutchman had struggled with health issues for years and died of illness on Monday morning.

Greebe had been dealing with health issues for a long time; he had to have his lower leg amputated in 2017, kept working toward his goals, and played darts while wearing a prosthesis in 2017. He even started his own darts school in Den Bosch in 2018.
Live Darts announced his death news through an Official Facebook post, which stated:
“We are saddened to learn of the passing of Toon Greebe at age 35. Toon competed in the PDC World Championship in 2008 and 2010 and won the Polish Open in 2019. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this trying time.”
Thoughts and Condolences to his family, friends, and community in this trying time; his sudden demise left his mates and community in grief and shock. Greebe’s funeral details have not been announced yet.
Toon Greebe Disease
Greebe competed in the PDC World Darts Championship in 2008 and 2010, and even after having his leg amputated, he vowed to return to the World Cup someday. Toon Greebe has been battling an enduring foot illness, according to his 2018 health report.
He sought medical assistance when the agony became intolerable. He was given a gloomy prognosis at the hospital, and his right foot was amputated just above the ankle. Greebe stated after his first surgery,
“The only thing I remember is being put on a hospital bed with a face mask, as he recalled the incident. I was put to sleep in a matter of seconds. I lost my foot when I woke up. I want to put that time behind me as quickly as possible.
He said, “I’m very disturbed by it one day, but I know I must go the next day. I’m confident I’ll emerge from this experience stronger than before.”
Toon’s spirit of resistance, nonetheless, came through. To fit a prosthetic limb and regain his ability to walk, he needed a second surgery to amputate an extra 10 centimeters from his lower leg after the initial amputation.
Greebe defeated Sebastian Steyer 6-3 to win the Poland Open in May 2019 and complete a stunning comeback to darts. But unfortunately, the 34-year-old underwent another surgery and lost his other leg in 2022. As a result, Toon Greebe’s extended illness was the cause of death.

Toon Greebe was born on September 25, 1988, in the Netherlands. He was a Dutch darts player who gained notoriety for his contributions to professional darts. He showed an early aptitude for the game and became well-known in it.
He overcame many talented competitors en route to the Dutch Open quarterfinals 2007. Greebe switched to participating in PDC competitions, where he won the 2007 US Open and 2007 UK Open.
His entry into the 2008 PDC World Darts Championship was successful. Greebe succeeded in BDO/WDF competitions, making it all the way to the final of the Welsh Open in 2009 after making it to the Isle of Man Open quarterfinals in 2008.
He competed in the 2017 German Open final against Mark McGeeney, the top player in the world. Greebe’s legacy will always endure. He will always remain in the history of Darts. Prayers for the young man; Rest in Peace, Toon Greebe.
