Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department Mourns its Valiant Firefighter and Paramedic, Travis Traynham

 Travis Traynham, a selfless firefighter of Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 23, 2023. The resident of Richmond, Virginia, was off-duty when he passed away. The department announced the tragic news of his passing in a post on social media that said,

“With great sadness, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department announces the death of Lieutenant Travis Traynham. Lt. Traynham passed away while off-duty on Thursday, November 23, 2023.”

 

Who was Lt. Travis Traynham?

Travis Traynham was a proud resident of Richmond, Virginia. He was a selfless Lieutenant at Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. He earned an Associate of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Devry Federal Way, Washington. Travis was a field engineer at Bayer from 2000 to 2004.

Lt. Traynham has been a treasured Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department member since his joining in 2004. He was assigned as a Battalion 8 Relief Lieutenant, B-shift. He was a selfless individual who would put his life online to rescue others from life-threatening situations. Helping others gave him great joy. He found his life’s purpose in serving the community with his dedication and bravery.

He was a loving husband and shared his insights about life, marriage, and relationships on his social media. He loved his beautiful wife. His family was his whole life. He valued every relationship and was a loyal friend.

What happened to Travis Traynham?

The details of his tragic demise have not been made public. Neither the family nor the Fire and Rescue has shared the cause of his untimely death. His sudden, unexpected death has left his family and friends mourning and the community reeling with shock and sadness. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege to know him. he was an integral part of the community, and his death has carved a hole in the fabric of the community that can never be filled.

Lt.Traynham has been a valued member of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department since joining in 2004. He was assigned as a Battalion 8 Relief Lieutenant, B-shift, at the time of his passing.

Lt. Traynham will be greatly missed. Fire Chief Butler and the women and men of Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department extend our deepest condolences to Lt. Traynham’s family, friends, co-workers, and anyone whose life he touched.”
